Im_stupid
It is intended to work like that. The task is to kill any critters and once you kill enough of them it will spawn an alpha critter, then you kill the alpha critter. However, stage 2, when the alpha critter should be spawned in often fails so theres never any alpha critter to kill. This quest does seem to be confusing a lot of people
